Ausstellung Dock 4, Kulturhaus Kassel,

Im Keller des Kulturhauses fiel mir eine Stützmauer auf, die nicht im
rechten Winkel sondern im stumpfen Winkel von ca. 110° zum Boden gebaut wurde.
Ich setzte exakt im rechten Winkel eine weiße Fläche gegen die Mauer. Die
Fläche, die ich mit Gips und Kasein beschichtete, nahm nicht die gesamte Breite
des Flures ein, sondern ließ einen schmalen Gang für die Betrachter, um an der
Fläche entlanggehen zu können. Die visuelle Bezugsnahme von weißer Fläche und
Wand störte erheblich den Gleichgewichtssinn und das Raumgefühl.

In the cellar of Culture House DOCK4 my
attention was drawn to a sloping supporting wall that was built at an angle of
110°. I placed a large board exactly at a right angle to the sloping wall and
covered it with layers of casein and gypsum. Only a small corridor was left to
walk across the space. The visual relation between the straight white plate and
the sloping wall had an irritating effect on the visitors’ balance and their
perception of space.
